The GOP is implicated in this mess as well. The use of dog whistles gives them some deniability, but it is easy enough to see what’s going on here.

For example, RW commenters of this kind who bother to vote would be 0% democrat votes and 90+% republican votes.

This is not a coincidence.

It’s also no coincidence that Republican politicians have been making dog whistles to these types since the Republicans realized they had lost the AA vote to the Democrats so they decided to pick up the angry white vote. It honestly goes back I think as far as Goldwater and perhaps even further.
