The Chinese Communist Party thought the anti-Islamic rhetoric would have been limited to the Uighurs. But as history shows, it can grow and metastasize itself into deadly ways, as they are now seeing it affect the otherwise loyal Hui community.

I’m guessing the CCP’s relationship with religion in general isn’t great. Which is probably another argument in favor of secular government rather than any sort of doctrainian form of government (for lack of a better term)
