Well, my regional paper chose not to run my wife’s letter debunking the columnist who claimed that lack of religious oversight is the cause of the rising (actually falling) divorce rate in Nebraska.
Instead, the paper chose to run this little racist gem. (I already had a letter in the paper this month so they will not let me respond.)
Football Players Should Be Happy They Live in America (goes to the Scottsbluff NE Star-Herald)
Bear in mind Letters to the Editor are vetted by the senior editor to run. Normally, they put the town of the writer: On this letter, they did not.
It’s high time the whiner, overpaid babies being paid just for playing a game get over their problem.
They should remember that they are extremely fortunate that some of their ancestors were sold to slave traders (from their own tribes in Africa) hundreds of years ago, and brought here to America, the best country in the world, where they were later freed when the United States fought a bitter and divisive civil war.
If they insist on “taking a knee,” they should get down on both knees and thank God that their ancestors were brought to America even as slaves.
