I would think they'd wait until after the US elections... a hot war in the ME would play into McCain's strengths... but maybe they are following the instructions of their Iranian masters, who seem to think war and death will hasten the return of the Mahdi, so maybe they'd prefer to get it going now... the more they lose the sooner the return.
