The original article in the Miami Herald does not have “liberal-looking pins” in quotes. It seems that that is just their interpretation of what went down. ThinkProgress putting it in quotes and titling their article with that phrase, also in quotes, gives the implicit impression that it was Scott who used the phrase in some instruction to his sheriffs. He might have, but the Miamia Herald article certainly does not say that.

This is why I do not trust ThinkProgress. They are deceptive. Take this article on AIPAC which they titled “AIPAC Attendees Say Jews Who Criticize Israel Are Traitors, Demand Loyalty To Netanyahu” which is clearly not a fair summation of what went down in their video (if you can stomach it, go to the comments section in the non-cached version of that link, typical lefty-antizionist bullshit).
