BTW, this quest for purity by the far right in the GOP mirrors what is happening in various American Christian groups and denominations today, as the True Believers are working to root out the heretics.

College professors/teachers are being forced to leave their posts in religious schools, and denominations are doing the censoring thing, and so forth.

Indeed, the GOP purification is exactly like what is happening in these religious groups. Perhaps because it is the same people?

That doesn’t sound far off. What amazes me is instead of becoming more progressive minded (in the broad sense of the word) the GOP and churches seem to be growing more conservative and narrow minded.
