He’s a bit late - science DID catch up to the Bible, many thousand years ago, and has left it in the dust ever since.

Maybe he means science will lap the Bible again for the 150,000th time on the race track.

Science has not caught up to the Bible across the board. There are endless observations in the Bible about humanity that may, perhaps, have a scientific basis. But we haven’t got there yet.

Take the matter of Proust’s literary observation that smell ties in to memory in a way that the other senses do not. This has now been scientifically established. On this one point, science has caught up to literature after just a century or so.

The deeper observations on human nature that may be mined from the pages of the Bible may, some of them, be wrong. Or maybe the miner got the wrong impression. But I reckon on balance they’re closer to true than false, and science will eventually catch up to growing fraction of them. But it won’t be quick and it won’t be easy.
