I totally get that. I find it very arrogant. I don’t know how other countries view themeslves but I’ve always been wary of the perception that America is divinely special. I’m proud of my nation and love it but I see her flaws as well as her strengths.

Ever since I saw American Exceptionalism used to support the “it isn’t torture when we do it” drivel, I’ve made a conscious effort to avoid that kind of thinking.
