Once I see the GOP base turning against Trump I.e. how Bush lost a lot as Iraq was too big a fuckup for them to deny or Bush not being a jerk on immigration reform. Till then I think Mitch remains as helpful as possible to Trump.

It was Katrina that really did it for Bush.

No matter how bad things got in Iraq, the base could choose to believe what the admin said at press conferences, or what Fox decided to show. But Katrina — they’d have to believe their own destroyed home dead neighbors empty stores missing pets over whatever Fox had to say. Assuming they had enough electricity to even have any idea what Fox was saying.
