They like to say they believe in limited government and individual rights. I’ve not seen that especially with this administration. Trump weakening environmental regulations was done for his donor base’s benefit to pollute the environment without fear of reprisal. He repeatedly talks about sending the federal government into cities he deems “shitholes.” He outright banned transngendered people from serving their country.

As the old axiom goes, “government small enough to fit into your bedroom/uterus/etc.”.

They don’t actually want to shrink government in general, just the parts of it that would prevent them from perpetual power and total freedom from consequence.
