Catholic theology uses the concept “practical atheist” to define someone who attends a lot of masses, professes the faith, but acts and lives as though there were no heaven, hell, nor god. A lot of priests and a number of notable popes were practical atheists.

Note that the term has been adopted within the atheist community in a different sense, tangled up with “pragmatic” and other flavors of atheist.
