Well, there’s a third option, which would be to try to rebuild my sister’s recently discarded PC into a working one, as it’s three years younger than my own. Problem is, it was discarded because both the motherboard and video card burnt out. Really, by the time I spent the money to replace those, I’d be pretty close to a bargain-basement PC anyway.

There was a couple-months-old magazine in my apartment lobby advertising net-PCs (or net-tops?) you can build for $300. O_O
