I keep seeing this, but the Democrats did have a compelling economic vision, It’s just not the vision these voters wanted. They preferred the comfortable lie where all the coal/factory jobs came back and they could work in the same job their father and father’s father had.

Actually, the linked article makes a very good point, IMO. The Republican economic story is ‘free markets solve everything’. The Democratic economic story is ‘free markets are great, but they need tweaking here, there, and over there, and this response to an emerging regulatory gap, …’

Guess which vision is easier to sell.
