Several years ago, while visiting the Columbus Zoo, I was witness to a conversation, if you could call it that, between a gigantic African elephant and her keeper. The keeper was talking to this animal like she was her own child. It was charming. You can’t help but admire those guys and gals who spend their days caring for those creatures.
