Being on the bank of a major river in full flood stage is more feeling than looking. It’s a unbelievable powerful force.
I corrected a typo; we got hit in the Great Nashville Flood of 2010, not in anything this year.
And we live a mile or two away from the Cumberland River, well out of the (then) well-known flood zones; what got us was runoff, because our house sits smack dab in the middle of a low spot in what is called a “wet-weather conveyance”.
It took almost a year-and-a-half to rebuild, but we did, with a lot of help.
