Greets and saluts from the Resistance in the NYC metro area.

The commute on the NEC is a total cock-up this morning as the Portal Bridge has failed to close. It was opened overnight for boat traffic and it’s been unable to lock in the close position ever since.

This is the most heavily traveled rail segment in the US - between Newark Penn Station and NYC Penn Station.

The bridge has repeatedly failed to close over the years and there’s a replacement plan for the bridge, but it’s included in the Gateway Project. Trump’s sabotaged the funding for that plan, and therefore the replacement bridge is on hold thanks to Trump.

But getting back to Charles’ post and Trump filling his staff with loyalists.

Trump filled his staff with loyalists from day one. He values loyalty over all else, including knowledge and competency. So when Trump thinks one of his picks was disloyal, he sacks them.

He cannot tolerate anyone who doesn’t push the Trump line.

He cannot deal with anyone or anything that gives him a contrary opinion or provides him with information that goes against Trump’s beliefs or feelings.

That’s why McMaster is gone.
That’s why Comey is gone.
That’s why so many others are gone - they gave Trump news Trump didn’t want to hear, but had to hear.

Trump doesn’t accept any contrary information to his addled worldview.

This is central to the job of the president - to get all information, good, bad, and even info contrary to what the president believes, in order to get the best information and judgments to make decisions.

Trump doesn’t make informed judgments or decisions.

He’s an addled know nothing who reacts to world events and speaks without thinking.

He equates Nazis with the people protesting them. He is a bigot and nativist whose policies are applauded by white supremacists and Nazis for good reason. He lies about everything, including consequential and inconsequential acts.

And all of it is a house of cards that should come toppling down if only the GOP did their own jobs and upheld their oaths of office to protect and defend the nation against threats foreign and domestic.

Instead, they too are enabling and complicit with Trumpworld as they’re using this as an opportunity to fleece the Treasury and pass massive tax breaks that sabotage functioning government and roll back regulations protecting everyone from corporate predators, protect voting/civil rights, environmental protection, and even transit rules that would make it safer to ride the roads and rails.

Trump is the symptom of the bigger problems with the GOP.
