I think what frustrates people is that he has a sizable lead in the polls and he could have easily explained his vote. He took the easy way out. I’m glad that he votes correctly on health care and tax cuts but it would be nice if Manchin would realize that he doesn’t always have to give something to his party’s conservative voters.

What is your thinking if the reason he has a big lead in the polls is because he is exactly what he is, that combination of conservative southern state Democrat of old that also pisses off them liberals up in New York.

I think we are making a mistake not actually thinking of why Joe Manchin has been successful in our want to make the Democrats successful and more pure.

I tried making that point in my CL’d string at the end of the last thread. Joe wins his seat because he does strattle the fence enough to keep everyone happy. That is why they love him. I bet many in the state are damn proud their senator stood up to those mean DC ultra-liberals.
