re: #85 Patricia Kayden

NEW: Republican @RepTomReed says he’ll back Democratic rules tomorrow - first crossover in 18 years - and has been threatened with “consequences” from GOP leaders.

Reed said he “was compelled to support the new rules after incoming House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and fellow Democratic leaders made good on promises to include process changes he had pushed as co-chairman of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus. Those provisions were aimed at opening up the legislative process to bipartisan compromise and dissuading hostage-taking behavior by the ideological fringes of both parties.”

look at the difference between reed and mcconnell

reed’s been pushing for these very changes for a while
he will support them even though the ‘other side’ is now in charge
he wants this, so he’s voting for it. (a glimmer of how the system works)

mcconnell et al passed the spending bills a few weeks ago
now he says he wont even bring them up for a revote
they wanted this (100-0 i believe)
he’s shooting himself and the R’s in both feet, both knees, one elbow and hoping if they dont move around too much it wont hurt a lot
