I’m generally not into sword and sorcery fiction. I sort of draw the limit at steampunk, because I’d rather an author put some more thought into his mysterious crimes against nature than simply “It’s magic, I don’t have to explain shit!”

So, Start Trek and Star Wars are similarly out?

I do tend to limit my steampunk to worlds where Babbage’s difference engine was successfully built.
