The simplest way to ease it in is to de-couple from Social Security and lower the age as the economy and political reality permits. There are probably better ways.

and decouple insurance from employment
- at least phase out the health insurance tax deductions, adjust rates accordingly
- addressing portability of private insurance is a different set of problems
oh wait, but then there’s always the public option (gee that works great dont it?)
