Netanyahu urges Jews to ‘move to Israel’

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the attack on Copenhagen’s main synagogue by urging European Jews to move to Israel.

Mr Netanyahu said Israel was preparing and calling for the absorption of mass immigration from Europe.

However Denmark’s small but vibrant Jewish community rebuffed the call to emigrate.

“We appreciate the invitation, but we are Danish citizens, this is our country,” Dan Rosenberg Asmussen, chairman of the Jewish Society in Denmark, said.

“I feel just as safe on the streets today as I did the day before yesterday,” Jewish community member Bent Bograd said, as he laid flowers at the synagogue.

“We can’t do anything about it, and it’s a risk that exists.” […]
