I’m off to bed, but I have to share. I got the official offer of employment at my local dive shop, and while it’s not as much as I used to make teaching programming, it’s more than enough to support my lifestyle, and I’m doing something I love. I’m also getting some very nice perks / benefits in terms of diving and equipment.

Pay will increase as I get certified as Divemaster, then work my way up the instructor ranks. Also when I get my various factory certifications to repair equipment. (due to insurance issues, I can’t work on things I’m not certified on without direct supervision).

All in all, life is good. I’m getting in with a shop that is fairly new (2 years old), but is growing and has a couple of great owners that love diving, and have great business sense.

Life could be worse. I’m happy. Now I’ve got to look stuff up in a store supply catalog to figure out how to keep our slat-wall display from breaking up where we are hanging heavy items. Already have an idea, now need to see if they make the stuff I need to do it. :)
