Not to want to put a damper on good news (FWIW I think Judge Persky deserved the boot) but I’m not sure this is a trend we really want to encourage on a wider level.
I can’t help but be reminded of the campaign by wingers in Iowa to unseat those of their SC Justices who were up for retention elections over their rulings in favor of SSM a few years back. Those campaigns were successful, and three judges had to be replaced. It’s a moot issue NOW, but getting “revenge” on the judiciary via election (and in normally minor, bottom-of-the-ballot elections) is most definitely a two-edged sword…
