They did. It didn’t work. He basically said “You don’t understand how business works”, and because he was the one guy in the GOP primary race willing to be a constantly belligerent racist, he won.

We needed one of those nice quips to respond to “you don’t understand how business works” along the lines of “apparently, Donald, neither do you.”
