Because getting our fiscal house in order is not something that will happen in my lifetime (what remains of it) my experience of manned space flight will consist of watching NASA films. But there is always excitement in even that. However, this space junkie is already going through withdrawal. The closest I got to a real time experience was watching the shuttle land at Edwards Air Force Base (Dryden).

Well, I think I’ll live that long, if the nation doesn’t go broke entirely beforehand. And we don’t have to have zero deficit in order to start planning a space project, we just have to have made good progress and have a way to control the program’s costs.
