It sort of fits into my idea that this whole thing is nothing more than a stupid childhood grudge where one kid bumped another in Kindergarten, the other kid punched back, then he got punched, and they’ve spent their entire lives punching each other, each time saying “I didn’t hit you that hard!” before swinging.

That is a terrible analogy. Come on. We’re talking about people dying here. It is nothing like a stupid grudge. A large portion of it is caused by the antisemitism preached by the Arab states over the past eighty or so years, a large portion of it is due to the treatment of Palestinian refugees as second-class citizens by the Arab countries where those camps are. A large portion of it is religious fanaticism. That is why it is so hard to stop. Palestine is a broken state: Hamas couldn’t even enforce a ceasefire if they wanted to.

Pretending that it’s just like a children’s squabble is beyond silly. This is like The Troubles in Ireland and it would require just as much of a good-faith effort on both sides to solve— and there will still be radicals fighting it even after then.
