Putin won the last battle of the cold war on November 8.

It’s not done yet. It might have been a Russian victory, but it only looks so daunting now because their inside man was so weak. The temptation to say that the powers of evil are insurmountable because their tools were ingeniously simple and their agent so obviously and abysmally awful is understandable. A terrible frailty in the American democratic system has also been exposed, but autocratic systems of power rise and fall. The psychological multiplier of this defeat is that Earth itself, is at a tipping point. That has been the major source of my darkest feelings of apathy.
Trump may do a lot of damage, but I have to have faith in the American people. In America’s institutions.
Without that faith, I’d have given up on day one.
Putin will live to see his precious plot fall apart.
One day, America will be free of this horror and one day, Russia too, will be free.
We might not see it, but hope is all we really have.
