re: #95 CongoJack

I am having the same issue with my wife (a 4th grade teacher). There are names that are absolutely forbidden (Seth, Logan, Sebastien etc) because these kids were a monstrosity in her classroom. On the issue of people making fun of the name as they age - I liked Gordon but the wife said he would be galled Gordy (and she said it was like naming our son ‘fat’). At the moment we have the name set for our son (1st born) and we went with Nolan (for no apparent reason other than we like it) and Robert for the middle (both our grandfathers’ name). Keep in mind we talk about names for about 3 hours a nite for the last week and yesterday the decision was made.

In 1965, my mom had twins. We knew 2 were coming, but not genders, so we had 4 names to pick. Mom had the first girl’s name picked (her aunt who had twins and named one for my mom) and she went with my pick for the second girl. We got two girls and the craziest has the name I picked. I regret what I have done to that name.

When I went off to college, my twin sisters named their cat after me. (‘They miss you!’ my parents said.) Turn out to be a tom. They loved to call it out by name to get off the couch when I came home, which happened less and less.
