IIJM, or is this outpouring of social-media pleas from the surviving victims/targets of the Parkland shooting - basically a call to “Authority” to cut the bullshit and start doing something substantive about the sick level of gun violence in this country - something new?

In most other school shootings, as I seem to recall, the “survivors” have generally been kept away from the press (for the most part) and left to deal with the emotional fallout between themselves/their families/grief counselors, etc.: It looks like something different here: the students themselves calling out the hollow “thoughts-and-prayers” boilerplate, and demanding action.
