When my wife worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, several electrical and software engineers formed a “flat Earth club” which mostly met to ponder the alcoholic content of various potent potables.

They would discuss silly theories on how or why the Earth could be flat.

They disbanded their group when a bunch of people in Colorado Springs came to listen to them and took them seriously.
