When I cut my hand and wrist really bad back in 2008 I had an ambulance ride (I was bleeding so bad I was losing consciousness) that was *literally two fucking blocks away*. $6,000.

I was an EMT/firefighter at my local VFD back in Illinois.
We NEVER charged for ambulance calls.

NEVER, because property taxes supported our department and we were obviously not for profit.
