So I got blocked by someone who was insisting on and persisting in taking AOC to task for her comments on concentration camps. Lovely fellow insisting on “Never Enough”. I’ll take the block as a badge of pride honestly.
The camps started in ‘33 and did not progress into what we considered “Death Camps” until nearly the end of the decade, 6-7 years after the first concentration camps were made.
The Holocaust did not start as The Holocaust overnight. It was hundreds of baby steps toward atrocity.— The Cruelty Is the Point, K? (@Citizen_Kryptik) June 20, 2019
The term was used to describe the very same camps we ran to detain the Japanese and were only called ‘internment camps’ to try and draw an arbitrary line. The only reason ‘concentration camps’ are synonymous with the Holocaust alone is laziness and “It Can’t Happen Here”

Merriam Webster Definition
Concentration Camp
a place where large numbers of people (prisoners of war, political prisoners, refugees, or members of ethnic or religious minority) are detained / confined under armed guard
This is *exactly* what’s happening on U.S. southern border— Marianne (@MnnMcG) June 20, 2019
The concentration camps were for “deportations” too, and funnily enough, many down there have not been formally charged for anything either, and were seeking asylum legally.
Not to mention the inhumane conditions, family separations, etc.@AOC is not the ahistorical one here.— The Cruelty Is the Point, K? (@Citizen_Kryptik) June 20, 2019
