It’s remarkable how accurate the forecast model (the official NHC forecast w/5 day cone) was compared to the actual track. The actual NHC forecast - the discussion, which supersedes any spaghetti model or other product - never included AL in the path. There were several 5-day cone forecasts that touched the AL border, but that’s such weak tea that no one in Charleston would touch it.

Of course, Trump’s busy kvetching all over Twitter about this and other nonsensical ravings of a lunatic mind to ignore that Charleston is getting battered by the outer bands of Dorian and its storm surge as the storm strengthened back to a cat 3 storm.

That’s also kinda unusual given that the storm is interacting with the coastline and landmass of the continental US, and that usually causes wind shear and weakens the system. Thus far, by staying just offshore, the storm can continue to gain energy from the warm waters as it churns up the East coast.
