That goes with a letter somebody wrote to Josh Marshall at TPM. Had to do with the gun issue seemingly being the last stand of young, white, uneducated males in America. Lemme see if I can find it.

Here we go: I view gun control from the prism of the gender wars. It’s a last-gasp attempt by lower-income men to hold onto some shred of self-respect: at least a capacity for autonomous violence, if they are left with nothing else.

Ohhhhh my… That’s gonna leave a mark, being exactly right and all. Wow. That notion explains a lot, especially the nihilistic, self-destructive gun-clutcher fantasy of wiping out yourself and others when you can’t get your way.

Had a co-worker bloviate about giving kids guns to stop shootings in schools yesterday. I don’t know what it is about the late-middle-aged white male that thinks they’ve got the answers to absolutely everything, and the answer is always something outrageous and provocative. Dude hasn’t been near a gun in decades, and he’s telling me we need to arm the shit out of kids. My CHL-permitted, AR-owning self finds the notion despicable and crazy.
