A corrigible dumbass who will go to the polls is more valuable than a well-meaning slug who won’t. I’ll take votes where we can get them.

I won’t take them at the cost of having to absolve a corrigible dumbass of his wrongdoing and tell him that his unethical choices were totally understandable and appropriate. If he needs or expects that in order to get his vote, then his loyalty is unreliable and he will support any evil that panders to his ego and feelings, and he is not worth the time or compromises needed to flatter him. I don’t support vindictively targeting such a person, but I don’t believe that such a person is worth of any consideration or effort to secure his vote unless there is genuine contrition and willingness to contribute to the greater good.
