One Tomahawk cruise missile costs $1.8 million. I did the math, at an average salary of $55K per year, that would hire around 30 teachers for a year.

We launched around 90 cruise missiles at Syria last week.

The US military budget is massive, but no nation uses their military and places the requirements on it that the US does. There’s also massive sacred ratholes we keep tossing cash into, so that cuts ultimately come from other areas which impacts our readiness. There is simultaneously too much money spent on our military and too little, exemplified by the fact we’ve dropped over a trillion and counting into the F-35 program and 100s of billions into the Zumwalt, while at the same time we have ships running into things every other week. We have 10(19) aircraft carriers, but can’t keep our predators from being jammed by the Russians and our cruise missiles from being shot down by 1960s technology. Also, blowing $150 million on cruise missiles is a poor expenditure of money.
