Words have actual meanings. If having sex with a 17 year old is pedophelia, then apparently having sex with a 10 year old is no worse, as it is the same offense, by your lazy definition.

Would you like to also argue over whether the correct term is “magazine” or “clip”? Or how an AR-15 is not an “assault rifle” because it lacks the option for burst/automatic fire? These are debates, just as that between “paedophilia” and “ephebophilia,” that are intended to do two things: Argue that the ignorance of the party that does not use the “correct” term means they cannot intelligently weigh in on a discussion of policy/law or to confuse the issue by using terms that are less commonly used and thus do not carry the same negative connotations as their “incorrect” counterparts.

Or, in short, I don’t give a flying fuck how it might pain you to hear the “lazy definition” used.
