America, almost since George Washington left office, has a history of heated rhetoric. I have no confidence this will change.

What has been flying from the right the past few years is far from “heated.” There is a rather significant difference between “I think your views on this matter suck donkey balls” and “You should be killed before you kill my grandmother and put my family in a FEMA camp.”
