Well that’s the last time I defend Rick Santorum.

Another interesting fact about Torquemeda explains some of Rick Santorum’s appeal, even to me:He was genuinely incorruptible, so much so that he had to act to prevent people from transferring ordinary criminal and civil cases to the Inquisition, which many people were willing to risk doing because the ordinary courts of Spain were so corrupt. It is entirely possible to argue that Rick Santorum is not in fact incorruptible, but to many conservatives he seems to be so compared to Mitt Romney, if for no other reason than Santorum will actually stand up under fire and defend his record.
