re: #95 wrenchwench

I just had a very unusual pleasant phone call from a credit card processor. As usual, I told him I took cards for 16 years and then got screwed by my processor, kicked them out, and never will take them again. Ordinarily, they work on telling me their company is different in some important way, but this guy said, ‘Oh, man, this industry sucks!’ We both enjoyed the call after that.

Speaking of credit card processing…I was told after the February Month in Credit Card and Banking Hell™ that I was thoroughly drained of enough money for my indiscretion of getting caught up in a scam and that my account was closed and no longer need to worry about any further contact, charges, etc.

Since that time I have received two mailed invoices for collection charges and a statement for charges for March and April account maintenance.

That would be the account THEY CLOSED due to my indiscretion of being scammed and causing them to have do their freaking jobs. Closed February 10th.

Today I called their Huntington Merchant Services/FirstData Collection service in Texas. I was again told I would owe nothing and sorry for the inconvenience.

Then I was told to “Have a nice day” as I was finishing the call. That gets me every time. They can tell they are dealing with someone who is not having a nice day because they are on the damn phone with them!

But I then managed to catch the guy from hanging up and proceeded to tell him I felt sorry for him having to work for such a company and that I am sure he could find a respectable job at a less soul-blackening organization. I told him I was hoping he can save himself from having to do the work of the evil.

He got a bit of a chuckle at that. I then said…now my day will be a little nicer!
