That’s kind of the same argument Stein and the lefter-than-thou folks have been pulling though since the election: the Trump disaster is actually GOOD for the left because of all the activism it’s inspiring!!

….meanwhile, millions will be kicked off their only means of insurance, millions more will have a price put on their lives that they’re already close to capping out soon as that takes effect, harassment of minorities and sanctioned othering, and if this does end up coming to pass, the end of legal abortion as we know it. And no way to fix those for at least a generation, more than likely.

But I guess if people are more aware that’s…worth it?

I can’t accept that logic because of one thing: it’s a whole lot easier to tear something down than build something up. The same way it’s far easier to take away the right to something than to regain or reclaim that right wholesale. There’s going to be decades of suffering coming out of the loss of Roe, and no guarantee something as good or better would emerge from the ashes any time soon.

I certainly wasn’t one of those arguing against Hillary on that basis, but the ugly reality is that Trump is President, and apathy played a big role in making that happen. Now people are going to get an education in what giving the reins of power to the GOP really means in terms of sheer human suffering. I’m hoping the backlash will result in Democratic control of government come January 2021’ and with it the enactment of Medicare for all and federally mandated right to choose.
