Once again, all the talk about cleaning up voter rolls comes from the fact that right wingers want to purge people and make it more difficult to vote. There are rules in various states that automatically purge those who haven’t voted in X number of years, and there are other rules in place that don’t always update the rolls when someone moves or passes away.

When my wife and I moved here from Oklahoma, it was a real slog to get the Kay County, Okla. clerk to remove us from the voting rolls, trying to avoid the specious claim of “you’re registered in two places” nonsense here.

We had to go to a lawyer (not a notary with a letter) stating it was our intent to be removed from the voting rolls in Oklahoma.$$$
