I guess this is my real worry. Criticising a religion doesn’t necessarily entail being ‘anti-’ that religion. but i find it worrying when people want to make it all about being ‘anti’. i think it’s often an excuse to demonize one group in particular (as with antisemitism and holocaust denial). They’re not the same, but related, i think.
Such as, more recently, the coining of the term “antifa” to describe people who protest police brutality and the rise of American fascism. It’s not like “anti-fascist” is actually a bad thing, but the fascists are using it to try to demonize, and eventually de-humanize, their opponents. The effect it has is to make it easier to kill them, since they’re “anti-” and thus “the enemy” in the war that they created in their heads.
