The British built 2 experimental Walter-cycle subs, HMS Excalibur and HMS Explorer, in the 50s. These were known in the fleet as HMS Excruciater and HMS Exploder. Accidents were frequent and frightening but not wholly disastrous (neither one sank) Both went peacefully to the scrapyard in the 60s, much to the relief of all concerned.

Walter and H202 were also the force behind the Me 163 Komet.
