So, a friend on FB in utter exasperation wanted to know why Trump supporters were so !@#$% stupid. This hurt the fee-fees of some Trump supporters on her friends list.

One fine gentleman in particular wanted to know if my friend thought he was stupid, as took to reminding everyone he was a psychologist with a 154 IQ (twice, that I know of). Instead of just walking away, I wrote the following:

A person with a high IQ voting for an unqualified bigot, who also boasted about getting away with groping women, to run the country?

At best, it says “I am not capable of electing people based on qualifications, despite my IQ.”

At worst, it says “Sociopath”.

The guy laughed and said basically I couldn’t care less what you think. I snarked that sociopaths aren’t known for their bialy to care about others, which illicited a wink emoticon.

Part of me actually feels shitty about saying that. But then I started thinking about how this guy was basically smugly waving his IQ around, like some sort of mental phallus that inoculates him from making mistakes. I also started thinking about just the straight-up lying Trump and his crew engage in, that a supposedly high IQ person should recognize.

It really pissed me off. This guy at one point used a DARVO to claim that HRC was the amoral one. And then I started thinking about all of the false balance “Everyone is in their own bubble” and the “We need to reach out to and be nice to the Trump supporters” and I’m like “Fuck. That.”

A person with a high IQ and works with mentally ill people who supports this monster and the party who enables him? I’m sorry, there’s something off there.

Needless to say, I got over my regret with the sociopath comment pretty fucking quickly.
