I just got an E-mail from my sister about her wife’s memorial service.

It turns out my sister (who lives in the Los Angeles area) forgot I don’t have a Facebook account so the details about the memorial service didn’t get to me. She just contacted me to tell me it’s Saturday.

I have to tell her I cannot come: we currently have a blizzard, and mandatory water tests on Wednesday. Had she remembered I don’t live in a First World nation like California and contacted me using a novel device like a telephone, I could have made arrangements.

I regret not being able to go, and passed that on to her.
