This was backroom politics, that’s all it ever really was. Ryan and Moulton had no real chance of unseating her, they were hoping to somehow build enough leverage to get committee chairs or even leadership chairs for her in exchange for dropping their opposition. Look for a lot of “symbolic” votes today, mostly the new Blue Dog Caucus looking to keep campaign promises not to support her for Speaker.

I don’t want Moulton or Ryan primaried after this but I do want them to know that they won’t be essential parts of or leadership at all in the future.
