In my experience, there are plenty of grifters irrespective of national origin. Also serious practitioners. I keep my waries on at all times.

It’s a bias of mine, that a Westerner cannot really represent an Eastern religion authentically without being immersed in the culture and language from whence it comes. I assume the Westerner has only appropriated enough of the religion to be able to sell his or her own version of it to his fellow Westerners.
