Imo WJB’s biggest faults were fansticism along with ugly racism and anti intellectualism. I don’t see Pete as a fanatic. And while Pete’s racial rhetoric bothers me, I can’t liken it to a guy who fought for a plank to defend the KKK and Pete isn’t anti intellectual either. I’d liken Pete more to a Tim Ryan type who thinks being safely moderate is how you win back white working class voters. Just realized now you said faults rather than worst faults. I really don’t mind that Pete is religious tbh. I think Republicans do need to hear that Democratic Christians exist.

Pete is a creature formed by a racist society, like we all are, but he doesn’t quite have the self awareness of how much it’s shaped his values and where its influence should be shaken off.

That limits his appeal to me as a national leader.
