It was a tough time. I remember classmates talking about nuking Iraq. I was definitely worried about the aftermath and here we are in 2020 where children who turned one the year of the invasion can be deployed there. It and Afghanistan really in that is my generation’s Vietnam but I concede we at least never had to worry about the draft.

I graduated from high school in 1972. It was still mandatory to get a draft card, but by then I didn’t had to seriously worry about the draft. I had a lottery number around 150.
